A gantry is basically a steel pole type support structures in the substation which is used to support the electrical conductor from the near by transmission tower.
All the electrical conductor which is on the near by transmission tower is connected to the gentry in substation which the help of insulator. But, the group wire is connected to top of the gentry without use of any insulator.
In another word, "An gantry is used in electrical substation for support the electrical conductor and make proper ground clearance".
Mostly bus bar are hanged on the gantry in electrical substation. For make simple and easy connect to all the power device.
Need of gantry in electrical substation:-
1. To support the electrical conductor.
2. To make proper ground clearance from the floor.
3. Protect substation from the lighting effects.
4. By using gantry, Bus bar easy connect to all the power device and protective device, connection should be simpler.
